The Wireless Installation Technician is responsible for all field operations tasks preformed in the fixed wireless network. Responsibilities include but are not limited to new customer installations, service calls, de-installations, and network maintenance as directed by supervisors. The skills that are most important in this position are structured cabling (network cable, cable TV, LAN, coaxial cable, fiber is all useful experience) also required is an understanding of TCP/IP and other network protocols and Network troubleshooting skills. Microwave and wireless radio frequency knowledge is a plus but not required.The position requires daily driving and the ability to maintain a vehicle level inventory. The Wireless Installation Technician position requires the ability to work a rotating on call schedule with occasional weekend work. The successful candidate for this position must be driven to learn new technologies and be capable of mastering tasks quickly, self starting and dedicated to being part of a team.

• Installing antennas and other customer premises equipment
• Cable runs from rooftop antenna to the customer premises equipment
• Programming customer premises equipment using computer and tools provided
• Testing and certifying circuits
• Troubleshooting circuit problems both wireless and network related
• Professional and courteous interactions with customers
• Daily driving and maintenance of company vehicle
• Inventory tracking on vehicle level and installations
• The ability to update service request tickets in an informative and timely manner
• Carry out routine and special assignments as directed by manager
• Maintain a Safe Driving Record in accordance with Covad’s Motor Vehicle Guidelines
• Willingness to Climb towers and install equipment per company standards after being certified as a tower climber

• Understanding of computer systems and applications
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Networking background (TCP/IP)
• Cabling experience (network cable, cable TV, LAN, coaxial cable, fiber is all useful experience)
• Proficiency with power and hand tools including cordless drills, digital multi-meters, cabling tools and others.
• Comfort with heights. (Antennas are mounted on rooftops of various heights)
• Troubleshooting theory and processes knowledge
• Ability and willingness to learn additional technical skills quickly
• Customer service skills
• The ability to work well with a team or alone if necessary
• Microwave Theory knowledge is a plus, but not required
• Pass a background and drug test 
• Requires an Associate's degree in related field or equivalent experience, certifications, or training    
• Telecommunications or Information Technology, trouble resolution and project management
